Widey stops at the fence on the field side. As she rises for a better view, we see what may be a nipple, indicating Widey may be a nursing mother. After climbing the fence, Widey stops for a drink of water. It appears she’s lost most of the fur off her tail, indicating a hard… Continue reading Is Widey a Nursing Mother?

Hal’s Microphone
Hal, the Wyze Pan Cam covering the stairs in the garage, has a speaker so you can remotely talk to someone at the other end. Except I don’t know if it actually works that well. The sound may be garbled. While exercising on my stationary bike, I remembered I hadn’t brought in the cat food,… Continue reading Hal’s Microphone
Entering, but Not Exiting
Widey enters the den three times in 17 minutes, but the camera doesn’t capture her leaving. Either she exits so slowly the camera doesn’t register it, or there is a second exit.
Widey Determined in the Garage
Widey goes up the garage steps and starts eating out of the cat dish. Pippen is sitting in the cat bed, but doesn’t seem to object. A couple minutes later, Widey returns down the stairs. She stops at the side of the car and stands on her hind legs for a moment. Widey walks toward… Continue reading Widey Determined in the Garage
Waiting at the Tire Tunnel
Target and Widey leave the den. Target enters the tire tunnel as daylight fades to black (and white.) Widey joins Target in the tunnel. Target takes a position at the tunnel opening After waiting about five minutes, Target leads way toward the side of the shed, and Widey follows. Eight minutes later, the raccoons return… Continue reading Waiting at the Tire Tunnel
Widey Daylight Expedition, February 17
Widey leaves the den at 6:13 PM, just a few minutes after sunset. After being outside for a little more than a minute, Widey considers going back inside, then wanders over and disappears under the other shed. A couple minutes later, Widey returns to the den.
Target Waiting in Tires
Widey tried to steal food from Target in the garage, then both raccoons returned to the den. Five minutes later, Widey somehow sneaked out of the den and is back in the garage looking for leftovers. Meanwhile, Target leaves the den. And goes into a row of tires stacked against the fence. Target returns the… Continue reading Target Waiting in Tires
Widey vs Target and Pippen
I often see racoons traveling in pairs, but that doesn’t mean they’re working cooperatively. Sometimes one raccoon follows another in hopes of getting some of the leftovers. Widey carefully comes up the garage steps, where Pippen, a 15-pound stray cat who adopted us, is eating a handful of cat food in a metal dish. Pippen… Continue reading Widey vs Target and Pippen
Widey and Lasagna
We had a frozen lasagna from Costco for dinner. Since the pan it came is is too wide for the cat door in the garage, I decided to see what the raccoons would do with it. After spying the lasagna pan, Widey checks the surroundings outside three times before venturing into the garage. Unfortunately we… Continue reading Widey and Lasagna
Bratwurst
My son didn’t like his bratwurst, so I left a vote out for the raccoons. Widey showed up to claim the prize.
